About Town: Mark Your Calendar. A True Dinner Club. This Sunday

Willis Show Bar, Frame and The Detroit Bus Company Unite For a Night of Dinner & Coltrane

Willis Show Bar kicks off their Sunday Dinner Club series this Sunday, January 28th, with dinner by Chef Matt Tulpa and a night of Coltrane.

While the name sounds like a casual affair, this event is far from pedestrian. They’ve partnered with the Detroit Bus Company and the pop-up authorities at frame to make a real adventure out of it.

Sunday’s dinner will be hosted at frame’s Hazel Park location, but future dinners could be anywhere.

Regardless of location, it’s a simple equation for a good time: dinner, city bus ride, followed by cocktails and merriment in one of the world’s oldest jazz clubs.

In frame’s own words:
“Relationships will be formed, menus will be built with a theme of locally sourced ingredients, and cocktails and wine will be served with care. Our wish is that guests of the Sunday Dinner Club dinners will delight in each connection.
For our first Sunday night, we pay tribute to John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps” and a collaboration with Willis Show Bar and Detroit BusDinner starts at Frame with a warm winter Sunday dinner by Frame favorite, Chef Matt Tulpa. Once the fourth course is over, board the famed Detroit Bus for a trip to the Willis Show Bar in Midtown.
Dessert, a custom welcome drink and a private live John Coltrane music experience performed by Jeffrey Trent on saxophone, Leroy Mickens on piano, Trevor Lamb on bass and Tariq Gardner on drums, awaits. The Detroit Bus will bring you back to Hazel Park after the live show.”
