DETROIT RIVERFRONT CONSERVANCY
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is spreading the knowledge that mental health is just as important as physical health. Check out their mental health-related events below and click HERE to register. All programs are free and open to all ages.
TONE MATTERS SOUND BOWL 101: MAY 11
Date & Time: Thursday, May 11, 2023-6:30 PM-7:30 PM
Tone matters: Join this free interactive sound bowl workshop to learn more about the basic techniques, how to activate sound meditation instruments and the science of sound with crystal & Tibetan sound bowls. We live in a world of vibrations that you’ll get to experience more clearly. Come and experience the impact of both input/output of vibration. This workshop is for all ages and no experience is necessary. Learn how to create your own meditation ritual & enter a raffle to win a free Tibetan singing bowl! All you need is a yoga mat.

DETROIT FOOD ACADEMY DEQUINDRE CUT TAKEOVER
Date & Time: Saturday, May 13, 2023-10:00 AM-1:00 PM
Bring the family and kids along for a youth and family day of food, fitness, and fun! All youth and families are welcome to join this free event, which includes a variety of fitness experiences. The fitness and wellness classes include running, yoga, HIIT, and weightlifting. You’ll find several other mental and physical health stations along the Cut, followed by a free lunch at the Dequindre Cut Freight Yard. Click HERE to register.
LABYRINTH WALK AT GABRIEL RICHARD PARK-MAY 20

If you enjoy solitary walks in the park, you may already have a meditative practice without knowing it! The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is partnering with Afro Moone who will lead participants on a free serene walking meditation for all ages. Let Afro and your senses guide you as you immerse deeper into the sights and sounds of Gabriel Richard Park through a guided walking meditation using the labyrinth along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront. RIVERFRONT REFLECTIONS WITH INNER EXPLORER
Walking along the Detroit Riverfront is peaceful as it is. Take it a step further and get more in-touch with your inner world. Thanks to Mental Health Awareness Month Awareness Month events in Detroit like Riverfront Reflections from Inner Explorer, you can visit the Riverfront and feel more present and mindful. You can also explore audio recordings for all ages and a mindful scavenger hunt!
MINDFUL MONDAYS
Date & Time: July 10-August 28 From 7-8 PM
Although, this last mental health-focused event is not in the month of May, it’s still worth getting involved with this summer! You can count on Mindful Mondays for sound & movement meditation practices intended to uplift the body & mind. Afro Moone will be back again, along with local guest practitioners to lead guests in relaxation and mindfulness meditations accompanied by live compositions. Mindfulness practices include yoga, deep listening, tai chi, and illustration therapy. No previous experience needed and all ages are welcome. You can bring blankets, yoga mats, and journals.
