Art galleries in Detroit have evolved over the years and taken on new meaning. Formerly known as Simone DeSousa Gallery, Matéria is a gallery and project space that has dwelled in Cass Corridor, Midtown Detroit since 2009. Check out their EDITION pop-up space, next door to Matéria’s Core City location.
Matéria opened its second location in Core City Detroit last fall. Matéria has regular hours from Thursday-Saturday 12-7 pm and by appointment. They present an ever-changing curation of contemporary art and design that is both collectible and accessible.
