Comerica Park Adds More Local Fare for the 2024 Season

Exploring New Tastes of Detroit at Comerica Park

Hot dogs are a quintessential baseball meal. They are as naturally linked as America and apple pie.

This tradition is believed to have been started by a St. Louis bar owner, Chris Von de Ahe, a German immigrant who owned the St. Louis Browns Major League Baseball team.

But if you spend any time at Comerica Park this spring or summer, you may have some difficulty going with this fare, because there are now so many other unique options.

“It’s exciting to be able to bring in what fans gravitate toward and love outside of the park, said Comerica Park Executive Chef Mark Szubeczak. “We’ve created some great partnerships and to be able to offer this cuisine in this venue is going to make for a terrific season.”

That’s right – Comerica Park has significantly upped its game when it comes to new tastes, which even includes seafood.

Ferndale restaurant Voyager will have a pop-up presence in section 116, bringing peel-and-eat shrimp and hush puppies to the masses.

“It’s a great opportunity for our little restaurant to get in front of thousands, and we believe our food will translate really well,” said Voyager Owner and Chef Eli Boyer.”

Detroit fans and out-of-towners alike will be able to enjoy unique and themed food items from other Detroit favorites like Slows Bar BQ, Marrow, Detroit Water Ice Factory, and more.

“This is a nice chance for our brand to extend to a more casual experience for folks,” said Sarah Welch, Marrow owner. “A lot of people see us as high-end and expensive, but we have a playful side and we are excited to put it on display.”

The park, in fact, has several fun and interesting new upgrades for this 2024 season.

Most visibly notable is the huge new Videoboard – the second largest in Major League Baseball. Measuring more than 15,600 square feet, the Videoboard has high-resolution screens and new speakers.

Catering to the needs of those with sensory sensitivities, the venue also unveiled a new sensory room in partnership with KultureCity. The room, which will be open for all games and events, is also open to all ages and features adjustable lighting, calming visuals, bean bag chairs, and sensory toys.

But – back to the food!

The Tigers, in partnership with Delaware North Sportservice, launched several menu additions within various areas of the park including a variety of unique twists on ballpark and local favorites.
