Quicken Loans Winter Blast is once again transforming Downtown into its yearly family-friendly festival kicking off this weekend!

Skate for free at the Frankenmuth Rink at Campus Martius Park courtesy of Delta Dental, eat at an amazing food truck lineup led by The Soaring Eagle Cuisine Machine and take the kids to an interactive lineup of fun activities. There also will be a special festival preview for residents of Detroit’s Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood all made possible by TCF Bank.

And the best part? The festival is F-R-E-E!

Winter Blast will also have a punch-packer of a lineup when it comes to music, which includes Leaving Lifted, The Wailers, Stick Figure, Pilfers, Sara Marie Barron, Lucy’s Brown Seville and many more!

As an added bonus, TCF Bank will serve as the new sponsor for the lineup of family activities, including DJs, arts & craftsscience experiments from the Michigan Science Center, and a character meet and greet with “SONIC” from the upcoming Paramount Pictures film SONIC THE HEDGEHOG” coming to theaters Friday, February 14, 2020.

New festival sponsor Mt. Brighton will offer a learn to ski and snowboard experience and will use its state-of-the-art snowmaking system to make snow for the event (Not that it needs one currently – it’s pretty snowy this weekend!). Festivalgoers have the opportunity to get fitted for ski or snowboard gear and go down a beginner-level slope with the help of Mt. Brighton Ski and Ride School instructors.

Ice carving demonstrations will take place during the event courtesy of US Ice. The Ice Garden will showcase plenty of the company’s carvings along Campus Martius and Cadillac Square.

Another returning feature to the festival is the longest, fastest mobile zip line in Michigan. The 20-second ride allows two riders to zip simultaneously on separate lines, 34 feet above the ground, and enjoy panoramic views of Campus Martius from high above South Woodward as they soar through the chilly, winter air.

Festivalgoers will also have an opportunity to stay warm at one of the many roasting stations located throughout the event, courtesy of the Detroit Downtown Development Authority. Marshmallow and s’more kits will be available for purchase.

Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekend presented by Soaring Eagle will feature the return of the Polar PlungeFestivalgoers can brave the chill by taking a dive into the cold waters to raise money for the Special Olympics. This year, some of the festival’s sponsors will gather teams to take the dive together. The goal is to raise more than $20,000 to surpass the average funds raised at the festival through this activity.
