9th Annual Marche du Nain Rouge – 2018 Edition!
Again we are met. Somewhere in the old city, a legendary foe grows stronger, summoning his forces to ruin the people’s spirits.
But wait, there is hope! Will you join the thousands of costume-clad revelers, a parade of the citizens, as we celebrate the spring equinox and show the Nain Rouge that Detroit’s spirit is stronger than ever?
THE MAIN EVENT
All are invited to join in the 9th Annual Marche du Nain Rouge, a parade made up of the citizens of Detroit. Just show up!.
Noon: Gather at the corner of Canfield and Second, right next to Traffic Jam & Snug, for a celebration of Detroit with live entertainment.
1 p.m.: We parade down to the Masonic Temple. You are the parade, so come masked or fully costumed. Bring a marching band. Wear a costume. Build a human-powered float. Put on a mask, cover your body in glitter — whatever it takes.
Should the Nain Rouge, Detroit’s legendary harbinger of doom, try something dastardly, we will show him that hope prevails in the city that rises from the ashes. Bring your sense of Detroit pride and sense of humor.
NO OPEN CARRY OF ALCOHOL. Be Smart! Also, be respectful of fellow parade attendees and our neighbors, residents and businesses in the area. And be cool to everyone, especially protesters. We welcome all views on the legend of the Nain Rouge.
Awards will be presented to Detroit neighborhood groups with the best floats!
Free! There is no cost, just come out with your costume and have a good time.
When the parade is done, stick around for the after parties! Watch this page for details!
