Do you know a recent college graduate, someone looking for a new job or someone who wants to make a pivot in their career? Challenge Detroit is now accepting applications for the eighth cohort of their yearlong fellowship.

The program, which accepts approximately 30 fellows each year, is unique because it goes beyond connecting candidates to salaried positions: It also provides opportunities to collaborate with other nonprofits through intellectual capacity-building as well as leadership training and more.

Program Director, Shelley Danner, explains:

“It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity. It allows individuals to build career skills, working at a company in the Detroit area Monday-Thursday for one year. Then every Friday, for one year, fellows work in partnership with nonprofits on innovative projects across the city’s neighborhoods. It’s a meaningful, valuable learning experience and develops community-minded leaders.”

Does the word fellowship sound daunting? Step one of the phased application process is as easy as providing contact information and uploading your resume. Additional phases of the application process include submitting an essay and video, and, if selected as a finalist, being invited to the interview trip in Detroit.

“We want people from the city of Detroit to know this is an opportunity for them. Every year we have fellows who are from Detroit in our program. It’s about keeping talent here, bringing talent back home, and attracting talent by recruiting at colleges and universities across the country. Each year we bring together a diverse group of individuals who learn, give and make an impact.”
