FRIDAYS AT THE STATION: A PEOPLES RECORDS TAKOVER
This month, Michigan Central celebrates one year since The Station reopened to the public – marking a milestone with expanded retail offerings, cultural programming, and continued momentum as a vibrant hub for the city.
Stay tuned: New pop-ups from Peoples Records and Source Booksellers launch this week on Friday, June 27. The same evening, from 5-10PM, The Station’s concourse transforms for Fridays at The Station, Michigan Central’s monthly celebration of music, food, and community. This month’s edition will feature a People’s Records takeover, with DJs handpicked from their deep local network spinning vinyl.
To commemorate the one-year anniversary of The Station’s reopening, Michigan Central partnered with nonprofit letterpress studio Signal Return to release a limited-edition 12×18 poster, designed and printed exclusively for The Shop inside The Station. SASHA CENTER HOSTS “MOTOWN MANHOOD” EVENT TO BRIDGE HISTORY, HEALING, AND BROTHERHOOD

Based in Southeast Michigan, the SASHA Center (Sexual Assault Services for Holistic Healing and Awareness) is a Black-led organization dedicated to supporting and empowering Black survivors of sexual assault. The SASHA Center invites Black men and their families to partake in this free, daylong event of healing, history, and celebration. Hosted in partnership with No Harm and the Black Scrolls Network, the event aims to honor Detroit’s rich musical legacy while providing Black men and their families a safe and welcoming place to explore healing, healthy relationships and cultural pride.
