The Earth is so special, it deserves a day, week, and month of celebration. Join these events in Detroit this Earth Week in honor of the Earth. Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Leaders in Detroit making it a daily priority to make Detroit and the planet greener are being recognized this week as well with awards. Spring is a time to enjoy the outdoors. While we’re outside, we might as well make our environment a little cleaner.
Nature is our friend! Find cleanups in Detroit and the people who have paved the way in the city for environmental justice with several movements throughout history. There’s a variety of events locally and globally this month.
EARTH DAY COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP AT THE BRIGHTMOOR ARTISANS COLLECTIVE
Date & Time: Saturday, April 22 · 10 am – 1 pm EDT
Detroitsit already highlighted Detroit cleanups to join this Earth Day 2023, but we have more! Are you ready to celebrate Earth Day together & beautify the neighborhood? The event will begin at the BAC parking lot at 10 am around the community hub that is our center and then work along the Brightmoor Farmway. The clean-up will focus on the Eliza Howell Nature Trail, Brightmoor Artisans Collective Learning Garden & Fenkell St. bus stop, and The Brightmoor Farmway pocket parks. “SOLAR-POWERED WHOOP HOUSE OF MUSIC”

This list of Earth Day 2023 events in Detroit wouldn’t be complete without something electrifying. Manistique Community Treehouse Center (MCTC) is excited to announce its partnership with the Charles H. Wright Museum and artist Ash Arder. The event is featuring Arder’s “Whoop House” solar-powered sound structure. The structure is designed to record and playback the instruments and voices of community members. This partnership began in 2018 with the Shine A Light project, which is now the outdoor movie theater/emergency power station. Click HERE for more event info.

EARTH FEST 2023: PEOPLE, PLANTS, POWER, PLANET!

This list of Earth Day 2023 events in Detroit includes earth week events to participate in this week as well as the rest of the month. We’re heading into summer very shortly, so it only makes sense to get more in tune with nature. The agenda for Earth Fest 2023 in Detroit includes the McDougall-Hunt Neighborhood Cleanup from 10 AM-1 PM, the lunch and learn Green Fair (plenty of walkup activities and resources), and then stick around for the evening solar power party from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. METROPARKS EARTH DAY CLEANUP
Celebrate Earth Day this April 22 with preservation events at various Metropark locations. Our current Detroitisit list of Earth Day cleanups in Detroit highlights some of the many cleanups happening in and around the city, including cleanups for neighbors in Canada! Join the shoreline cleanup at Lake St. Clair and farm upkeep at Walcott Mills. Volunteers will get a chance to maintain the recreation and education areas and get free admission to the park that day. Dress for the weather. These cleanup events vary in location and have limited spots available. volunteers are urged to dress for the weather and register in advance HERE.
