As we head into the busier, indoor months, we find more reasons to go out. The best new live entertainment spots in Detroit this year encourage us to celebrate every day, even if it’s just a regular weekday! Business as usual in Detroit means supporting local businesses every day of the year. 2022 and the years to come are full of building, both physically and through the community. Expect music, drinks, delectable meals, and classy seats, to say the least.
Detroitisit rounded up a list of the best new live entertainment restaurants (and a couple of other cool spaces) in Detroit that up the excitement level.

MIDNIGHT TEMPLE
Hours for the outdoor seating: Wed-Sat: 6-10p Sun: 11-5p.
The cultural history in Detroit is strong, but it’s also diverse and welcoming of other cultures! Let’s see what’s happening at Detroit’s new Indian Gastropub. Midnight Temple is a new restaurant specializing in Indian-American food. Twenty-six-year-old Akash Sudhakara and chef Bharath Reddy are behind the project and are here to offer the food Sudhakara ate in his homeland but in a contemporary restaurant setting. Detroiters can expect pan-Indian dishes to give a general taste of India as a whole. Check out what tunes and eats they’re serving up in Eastern Market. Expect diner options like venison curry with naan and chicken tikka adobo. For lunch, they aim for a fast-casual menu, such as butter chicken bowls and “rollups”. Click HERE to view their site.

SPKRBOX
Electronic music and all the other playful musical technology are constantly proving themselves new. A round of applause for Josh Greenwood, owner of longtime Capitol Park coffee shop/techno oasis Urban Bean Co. Unfortunately, he had to close his spot, as many others did during the pandemic. Though, he moved on to his next project, which would come to be Spkr Box. This cafe and bar opened its doors on May 27. Some of you may have witnessed this inside look during the Movement electronic music festival. The little space was upgraded to support major energy, from the spot’s window panes to a tiny second-level bar, the DJ booth, a new sound system, a liquor license, and yummy food sourced by Village Hand Pies. Explore the basement Orange Room, which is an underground lounge with soundproofing that produces crystal clear sound quality. This is your sign to enjoy the classic cocktails and beers. The coffee concoctions are boozy as well! Click HERE to view their site.

HM STYLE LOUNGE & CHILL ROOM
How does an intimate music lounge sound? Owner Herschell Masten, former co-owner of British Sound Systems, a U.K.-based EDM and house music label is sharing the good energy and skills at Rosedale Park. He’s modeling HM Style on the pubs in London, which double as community meeting spots. In other words, there are plenty of opportunities to chill. Grab a beer or a cocktail. Sit back on leather couches and chairs with a meal or snack prepared by our chef or featured pop-up chef Stay for regular music events at the lounge, including nightly programming based on a musical genre, seniors night, and artists’ events. Some of these special cultural events will include live art, fashion shows, and poetry slams by Detroit artists, designers, and poets. Detroit Month of Design is upon us!
