CHANDLER PARK
In 2021, Detroiters got creative and passionate about providing ways to get moving amid quarantine upheavals. Former Detroit Piston and NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill teamed up with sportswear brand Fila to help pass on the basketball stardom dream to kids on Detroit’s Eastside. Fila and The Tamia & Grant Hill Foundation in partnership with the City of Detroit Parks, Recreation Division, and the Chandler Park Conservancy unveiled the new basketball courts which were built from the ground up in true Detroit fashion. Complete with new surfaces and backboards, a celebratory opening of the courts occurred at Chandler Park Conservancy with a 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament in September 2021.
