Summer is here! Michigan’s well known heat, humidity, and shade seeking days are upon us. As the city and state’s restrictions lighten due to warm weather and higher vaccination numbers, many Detroiters are hunting for safe and celebratory activities for these warm months. EXPLORE MURALS ON ROLLER SKATES
The Monroe Street Midway is a great place to spend a few hours coasting on a fresh pair of skates. Surrounding the rink and on the rink itself, artwork crafted by local artists like Sheefy McFly, Phil Simpson, Olivia Guterson, and Jessica Care Moore lace together giving each stride a new, beautiful and colorful scene. The Monroe Street Midway opened at the end of May and looks to stay until the fall, so grab your skates and check it out while you can!
PERUSE SOME ART AND SIP A LATTE
The Congregation Detroit, one of the most loved new coffee and beverage spots in the city, rotates artist exhibitions in their space. During the month of June, The Congregation is showcasing Chanel Beebe’s abstract art exhibition, The Color Cypher. The exhibition showcases 17 pieces of artwork that Beebe produced between 2016-2021. Grab a coffee or a cocktail, and peruse some of Beebe’s stunning abstract work.
ENTER THE LAND OF DINOSAURS
From June 11th through July 5th, Dino Safari is offering a drive-thru experience for entire families. The safari is located in Novi, and tickets are sold per vehicle. Throughout the journey through the safari, you can see dinosaurs ranging from the T. Rex to the Spinosaurus and learn about where they lived, how they evolved, and what paleontologists have learned about them. ARTS AND ACTS IN NORTHVILLE
Northville’s Arts and Acts fair features crafters and artisans from all over Michigan, as well as the country. The event will be held in the historic downtown area of Northville and will collaborate with shops, landmarks, restaurants, throughout the area. This three-day festival is Northville Art House’s 11th annual one and looks forward to featuring over 100 crafters and artisans. Check out the details, and join in on the free, festival fun!

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN VAN GOGH
Perhaps one of the most exciting things that June is bringing to Detroit, is the Beyond Van Gogh immersive exhibit coming to the TCF Center. This exhibit is described as immersive, as it features over 300 of Vincent Van Gogh’s pieces in a three-dimensional fashion. And worry not, if your favorite Van Gogh is one of his classic pieces like “The Starry Night” or “Sunflowers” your love for them will only grow with their inclusion in this unique experience.
