Another year has flown by and the holiday season adds to the fast pace of living. GivingTuesday in Metro Detroit and Detroit is here to help guide you through GivingTuesday in Metro Detroit and anywhere you may be dwelling as it skates in on December 3, 2024. Mark your calendars for the countless Detroit and Metro Detroit nonprofits, charities, and organizations to support on the GivingTuesday campaign day and year-round. Giving Tuesday is a global event that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Activists/active participants often spread the word with the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday this year falls on December 3rd. We’re spreading the love once again to deliver an updated list of Detroit nonprofits and community groups to give back to. All ages can help out in some way! Take a good look because many are looking for volunteers and/or donations now! Children, adults, seniors, those with mental and/or physical disabilities, the hungry, and the animals are grateful for whatever your heart can give.

Revisit our list HERE from last year to get an idea of how much the Detroit community and Metro Detroit area gets involved with making the city area a better place for people of all walks of life. There are plenty of places that offer one-day volunteer options as well as ongoing projects to get your hands on.

JARC Serves Adults With Developmental Disabilities in Metro Detroit

Giving Tuesday in Metro Detroit centers around supporting as many individuals and groups as possible. JARC is a local nonprofit serving adults with developmental disabilities in Bloomfield Hills. JARC supports funding for recreational therapy, transportation to events, religious services, outings, social opportunities, holiday celebrations, activities, items for the homes and so much more for the people JARC serves. You and/or your family can assist at events, delivering holiday meals, participating in gardening projects, and more. Join in on Brilliant Cities in Detroit and their mission that revolves around ensuring kids and families should have the tools and support they need to grow as well as having a more stable housing environment to improve a child’s success. Forgotten Harvest is always giving opportunities to give back to the local community, no matter where you’re at in Michigan. GivingTuesday in Metro Detroit reminds us to foster better food assistance as hunger remains a global issue to tackle, especially in underserved communities. This non-profit across America is a trusty food bank to volunteer at. EASTERN MARKET IS HOSTING A TURKEY DRIVE EASTERN MARKET

Date & Time: Tuesday, November 26 at 11 AM

You may have a giving heart, but make sure you and your family’s needs are met. If you or someone you know is in need of the essential turkey dinner this Thanksgiving , then mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 26 for free turkeys in Detroit as part of Thanksgiving meals. The Annual All-Start Giveback will be at Eastern Market Shed 5 on Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. to give away more than 3,000 turkeys to Metro Detroit families in need. First-come, first served! 

 

Other Metro Detroit Turkey Drive locations: Troy in Oakland County, Eastpoint in Macomb County, Detroit’s East side-Divine Restorations Ministries at 16392 Harper Avenue on November 28 from 10 AM to 2 PM, Taylor and River Rouge in Wayne County
