BOOK TOWER (REOPENED)
German-American architect Louis Kamper’s ornamental towers are a standout amongst Detroit’s traditional buildings. His construction output became a monumental building stone of Detroit’s development in the early 20th century. However, the Book Tower, a 38-story skyscraper completed in 1926, was stagnant, ultimately losing office tenants in 2009. Vacancy and uncertainty of future repair was eventually given restoration. After a seven-year historical $300 million renovation it needed by Bedrock Detroit, Book Tower reemerged in 2023. It is now one of the largest adaptive reuse projects in Michigan.
