CELEBRATE THE HEIDELBERG PROJECT’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY

KAWS WAITING SCULPTURE
Outdoor installations in Detroit come in all shapes and sizes. WAITING (2018) by contemporary artist, “KAWS” is a 17-foot bronze interpretation of KAWS’ famous COMPANION character? Visit the the towering landmark outside One Campus Martius, which is the first placement of this new design. It features a parent and child in a moment of pause, composed of over 2 tons of bronze with black patina finish.

CHARLES MCGEE LEGACY PARK
Outdoor art installations in Detroit amplify the individual and collective Black experience of several Detroiters. Adjacent to the Shepherd is the Charles McGee Legacy Park, a transfixing public sculpture park honors the life and contributions of the late Detroit Icon. His career and contributions are respectfully reflected in the works remembered, giving back to the Detroit community and its future. McGee completed the designs for the three large-scale figurative sculptures prior to his passing in February of 2021. Click HERE for more information.

HIERONYMUS BOSCH IN THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS
Outdoor art installations in Detroit ground us in more ways than one. Hieronymous Bosch in the Garden on Earthly Delights by @ScottHockingDetroit is on view at one of the art altars. Created while working in-residence at Stanton Yards Detroit, Hocking constructed Self-Portrait of Hieronymus Bosch in the Garden of Earthly Delights entirely from steel sailboat stands and maritime artifacts salvaged onsite in 2025. Original inspiration of this sculpture comes from “The Garden of Earthly Delights” (1490-1510) painting.
