BELLE ISLE BEACH
First off, let’s start with one of the most popular park areas in Detroit. It’s no surprise that it also has one of the most attractive beaches in Detroit. Spend the day basking in natural beauty along the waterfront. It’s open all week long for both tourists and locals alike! Swim, sunbathe and relax for the artistic cityscape sunset. THE BEACH
There are several beaches near Detroit, but it’s time to make room for beaches IN Detroit. This latest 2022 Detroit project urges you to prepare yourself for blissful beach bum days in the center of Downtown Detroit. 400,000 pounds of sand and colorful, comfortable lounge chairs offer a relaxing atmosphere for guests to release their worries. Enjoying the outdoors is an activity in itself. Programming at the beach includes live musical performances and lots of loose play in the sun and sand. VAN BUREN PARK BEACH
Public beaches near Detroit are nearer than far! Only a 30-minute drive away, Van Buren Park Beach is easily one of our favorites when it comes to quick beach getaways from Detroit. Most are familiar with the beautiful city of Belleville. LAKESIDE PARK-PORT HURON
Take a quick one-hour drive out of Detroit to enjoy this family-friendly beach. Rent a BBQ grill! It’s your day to get out and appreciate the peaceful shores of Lake Huron. Complete with more than a thousand feet of waterfront wonder, this old-fashioned beach is a marvelous option for all those sunny summer days ahead. ATWATER PARK
Looking for a new beach near Detroit? Atwater Park is a new beach spot that also happens to be one of the closest to Detroit. Highly recommend visiting this expansive 5-acre open space, which features the essentials like a sandy beach. There are also intriguing displays of public art. STONY CREEK METROPARK
For a more serene, woodsy feel, try Stony Creek Lake and take the kids! Public beaches in Detroit are probably the locals’ first thought, but nothing wrong with exploring the surrounding areas. Stretching over 500 acres, this Metropark is upwards of a 40-minute drive from Downtown Detroit. Stony Creek has immense play areas, picnic benches, a golf course, and a nature center. Take a dip!
