There are several must-know urban farms in Detroit and Metro Detroit that are conveniently located to help locals & neighborhoods make more conscious living choices. Support the agricultural trend of urban farms in Michigan to help increase the access to better foods in the community.

Some of these are also the perfect places to pick up any last-minute fresh flower bouquets & arrangements for all of the moms & mother-figures this Mother’s Day in Detroit.

This is a fun opportunity to buy plants for your garden this spring while also visiting their farm store for its grand opening to get your groceries, and choose from pretty bouquets & arrangements for mom!

Run by Tom and Nancy, Detroit Abloom is a model land-use demonstration project based on using cut flower farming and the creation of native plant and sanctuary gardens to re-purpose vacant blighted land. You can order a fresh‐cut flower arrangement for Mother’s Day with the help of Detroit Abloom. All bouquets are for pickup only at their house/headquarters (313 Newport St. Detroit).

Criterion Urban Farm is a non-profit organization helping seeds grow in the city by building strong roots, which applies to the local Detroit residents and their children. This interactive space allows the community to come together and learn how to create a sustainable and healthy environment. D-Town Farms Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network

This list of urban farms in Detroit to shop fresh produce, plants, herbs, and more has expanded at the roots. The Detroit Black Community Food Security Network (DBCFSN) was formed in February 2006 to address food insecurity in Detroit’s Black community and to organize members of that community to step more into their power in leading the local food security movement. Since 2008, DBCFSN has operated D-Town Farm, the largest of Detroit’s many gardens and farms. They’re always looking for volunteers! Take a look at their upcoming events and get involved.
