Counting for the 2020 Census has begun, Detroit. You should be receiving your census form in the mail, with 12 questions about your current place of residence. All census forms can be filed online, by phone, or by mail, and most importantly, none of your data will be available to any governmental organization.
According to the Census Bureau website, they are bound by Title 13 of the U.S. Code to keep your information confidential. Title 13 specifically protects your answers to the 2020 Census, and the Census Bureau will under no circumstances be legally able to release any identifiable information about you, your home, or your business, to any law enforcement agencies.
The law also ensures that your private data is protected and that your answers cannot be used against you by any government agency or court. This includes governmental organizations such as the National Security Agency [NSA] and Immigration and Customs Enforcement [I.C.E]
Violating Title 13 is a federal crime, punishable by prison time and/or a fine of up to $250,000.
The answers you provide when you answer the 2020 Census are solely used only to produce statistics, and go toward things such as congressional redistricting.
