There’s still some time left to appreciate the vibrant Detroit Contemporary Spring 2023 Salon! This is the return of Detroit Contemporary’s anticipated juried all-media exhibition, featuring the work of emerging and established artists from Detroit and beyond. It’s more than an exhibition, though! Curator of Detroit Contemporary, Aaron Timlin is ensuring this year’s exhibition is a proposal that leads to more possibilities. Participants will be considered by a distinguished panel of jurors for a solo exhibition at Detroit Contemporary during its 2024 season and two participants will be selected for the gallery’s artist-in-residency program. DAVID KLEIN GALLERY

According to the gallery website, Kicked By a Dead Horse details scenes from the mythic past of the American West, focused on failure and disillusionment within the telling of collective histories, truths, and cultural imagination. Expect to see ceramic, found objects, and mixed mediums on paper and canvas, each playing on the erosion of memory. Library Street Collective welcomes all to better understand the local contemporary art scene as well as get a glimpse of artworks by established international artists. The Library Street Collective co-founders Anthony & JJ Curis are planning to add more space to the mix!
