This week in Detroit: are you looking to safely get out of the house and actually schedule a few events to look forward to on your calendar? We remain in the midst of a pandemic, safety is the priority as we practice safe distancing, yet Detroit does not have a shortage of things to do this week. 

Here’s a short must-do list of workout classes, markets and street fairs to visit this week in Detroit, while of course, abiding by social distancing guidelines and wearing your mask:

FREE YOGA CLASS AT CAPITAL PARK

Decompress, meditate, and take a well-deserved mental break. Citizen Yoga, a yoga studio that focuses on an alignment-based Vinyasa, Blend, and Slow Burn practice, is offering a free yoga class for all levels at Capital Park on Wednesday, July 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The socially distant class is always free to attend, weather permitting. RUN THIS TOWN – FREE COMMUNITY CLASS

Be sure to join co-owner of Jabs Gym Eastern Market, Armond Rashad, for the Run This Town Community Event this week in Detroit on Saturday, July 18 at 9 a.m. The one-of-a-kind event will be held at The Eastern Detroit (3434 Russell Street) and admission is free. The class is limited to 100 socially-distanced participants.

NIGHT MARKET AT BEACON PARK

On Saturday, July 18, a socially distanced night of drinking, dancing, eating, and shopping will be held at Beacon Park. The Night Market at Beacon Park boasts a rotating list of local entrepreneurs for consumers to browse and purchase from, held at Lumen Detroit. DOWNTOWN STREET EATS

Located in the heart of downtown on Woodward Avenue and in the center of Detroit’s bustling business district, Cadillac Square is a prime spot for food trucks to gather for lunch. If you’re looking for an authentic personal food experience, while outdoors, look no further than Downtown Street Eats, present Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cadillac Square. FORD DRIVE IN (DEARBORN, MI)

Grab your popcorn! Take a walk down memory lane and experience the nostalgia of the drive-in theater. Located at 10400 Ford Road in Dearborn, Michigan, the Ford Drive In offers a Double Feature seven days a week.
