There is something about fresh, locally grown produce that is simply irreplaceable, especially as the weather warms. For those of us who want to try something aside from Detroit’s loved Eastern Market, or who want the convenience of a to-your-door delivery, we’ve curated a list of local Detroit farms and Michigan sources for goods and produce.

DETROIT BASED SOURCES

KEEP GROWING DETROIT

Keep Growing Detroit (KGD) sells Grown in Detroit vegetables and fruits on a weekly schedule. All of the produce is freshly grown by Garden Resource Program members throughout Highland Park, Hamtramck, and Detroit. KGD updates their website’s produce store to offer the freshest produce to those who order. Check KGD’s online store for their current Detroit grown options!

BEAVERLAND FARMS

Though Beverland Farms’ Spring Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares are all taken, Beverland sells their fresh produce every Saturday at Farmington’s Farmers Market. Check out their Instagram for updates on their produce, as well as information on their Summer CSA produce box shares.

DEEPLY ROOTED PRODUCE

Deeply Rooted was started by Dazmonique Carr as a way to provide greater access to healthier foods for students and Detroiters alike. Deeply Rooted still offers CSA boxes, priced by a tiered income scale. CSA box orders range from half-season to full-season and a few other options in between. All produce is grown by Deeply Rooted or other family farms in Detroit and the Metro area.

FISHEYE FARMS

Fisheye Farms broke ground in the Spring of 2015 and has been growing and providing produce for the community ever since. Restaurants such as Ochre Bakery, Selden Standard, FOLK, and others utilize Fisheye’s produce. Though their CSA shares are sold out, their stand in Core City offers an excellent array of produce. The stand will open for sales beginning June 4th, and consecutively on Fridays from 4-7. Check out their social media for more details.

MICHIGAN BASED SOURCES

SPROUT

Sprout connects locally grown produce with doorstep delivery. Participants utilizing The Sprout Box can choose produce that is grown in Michigan, grown organically, as well as other pantry items, meat, dairy, vegan options, and more. Goods can be delivered weekly, or bi-weekly. Check out all they offer on their online store

MICHIGAN FARM TO FAMILY

Founded in 2016, Michigan Farm to Family goes far beyond offering locally grown produce. Baked goods, meat, eggs, cider, and more are sold in their online store, as well as other outsourced goods and foods are also available on their website. Create an account with Michigan Farm to Family to have access to their wide variety of goods.

DOORGANICS

Doorganics partners with numerous farms based throughout the state of Michigan, offering a sign up program where participants can order personally delivered goods to their door. Their boxes range from small and large boxes, as well as fruit boxes, and local staples. Check out what Doorganics has to offer on their sign up page

FARMSTOP

Farmstop prides itself on being responsibly sourced and locally sourced as possible. Contactless delivery can be chosen for as soon as four hours or can be picked up in their brick and mortar location in Livonia. Farmstop’s deliveries are free when orders are over 50$.
