5 Headstrong Detroit Community Organizations that Help Physically Build

What is a community without the physical progress of unity? Detroit community organizations/nonprofits have their eyes on the future by observing the present environment. Detroit developments are underway by teams of project developers and architects, but creation can be seeded within a strong community org! Detroit has roots in the black community. Several Detroit community organizations are doing their best to support black leadership in the city, so a strong foundation remains. Not to mention, Detroit’s rich history is at the core of the moves being made today.

Detroit has several areas that require constant attention for them to be prosperous. We can all come together, but there must be some end result knitting our efforts together. Financial support within these Detroit community organizations/nonprofits is the reality that solidifies a vision.

In true spring spirit, Detroitisit rounded up a list of motivating Detroit community organizations that help physically build. What does this mean? Let’s all look more closely at the schools, parks, homes, and any area that Detroit’s black community has tended to, so we can see what more needs to be supported.

NEW ERA DETROIT

Starting off this list of Detroit community organizations that help physically build is New Era Detroit. Their Instagram bio sums up the Detroit community’s foundation when it says they “specialize in the organizational structure of Black Communities!” The New Era Detroit is part of the New Era Community Connection (NECC), which is a family movement of New Era Nation. Get involved. Here’s an upcoming event worth checking out! Join them next Saturday for their free financial literacy program. BRILLIANT DETROIT

Detroit community orgs that help build are brilliant, to say the least. The non-profit, Brilliant Detroit knows the power of nurturing the younger generations, especially Detroit youth. You’ll see through their programming and outreach how much they’re helping build. They focus on helping children succeed and be prepared for school. Brilliant Detroit has dedicated its time and resources to uplifting families and neighborhoods. Families with children 0-8 will have what they need to be school-ready, healthy, and self-sufficient. HUMBLE DESIGN

Next up on this list of Detroit communities that help physically build is one that literally hits close to home for some. Humble Design is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that’s humble and realistic in its approach to helping Detroiters get back on their feet. They furnish 3 homes a week for families, individuals, and veterans transitioning out of homelessness with your donated furniture. You can help volunteer! Learn more HERE on their website.

Detroit community organizations have the people in mind, but also the parks! After all, what’s an urban city community without beautiful nature? The Detroit Parks Coalition knows the importance of treating Detroit parks with the same respect and care as any other living being. Essentially, they work to preserve our vibrant parks by keeping them healthy & equitable. Help support them and get involved! Life Remodeled is on a mission to provide equitable access to more opportunities to black families, so they can experience a more fruitful life. This Detroit community org is focusing on areas of education, economic prosperity, and health & wellness. It’s crucial to support the current youth, education, and resources in Detroit schools as well as the physical buildings. Life Remodeled helps entire families by repurposing vacant school buildings into “one-stop hubs of opportunity”. Their Home Repair Program provides crucial repairs to owner-occupied homes.
