DEQUINDRE CUT

This list of best hiking trails in Detroit wouldn’t be complete without this legendary urban pathway. Relax your way along the two miles while still being surrounded by familiar city spots. Entry points are located at Lafayette Street, Gratiot Avenue, and Woodbridge Street. Trail alongside other movers as they rollerblade and bike past. Everyone is pleased to be in the midst of the Detroit River. Not to mention, the plethora of public art, and many patches of greenery that are perfect for a quick rest or picnic lunch. The trail concludes near Eastern Market, so you can end your adventure with a bit of dining or shopping.

SEVEN PONDS NATURE CENTER

It’s always nice to visit some hiking trails nearby Detroit for an extra sense of exploration. If you haven’t scoped out the wondrous trails at Seven Ponds Nature Center, take this as your sign to discover the lush foliage and gardens. With 480 acres, you will feel like you’ve hopped into a painting or a fairytale movie set. It’s the perfect place to find some peace and serenity. BLUE HERON LAGOON TRAIL

Considered the most beautiful hiking trail in Detroit, we’re positive you’ll find your inner tranquility at Blue Heron Lagoon Trail. Park at the beginning of the trail and why not take along your bike? Make a wonderful day out of it while the weather still permits and bring your kayak…and dog!  You’ll also find a deer run trail hugging the water. Belle Isle Park never fails to provide nature’s best while bringing together the community. Let your stay be as long as the trail.

DETROIT RIVERFRONT

The best hikes in Detroit allow us to get closer to nature and the legendary river views. Most of these hiking spots are also great for road biking. Hiking doesn’t have to have be a big incline for it to feel like good exercise. Walk at your own pace along this scenic route as many others will be too. The best times to visit this trail are April through September, so gear up and grab a walking buddy! These 4 miles should take you about an hour.

BELLE ISLE LOOP

Here’s an easy hiking trail in Detroit for you. This iconic island park has plenty of attractions for Detroiters to make it even more of a home. You may already be a regular on their extensive bike route that runs alongside the road. The hike is about a 5.4 mile trail that’ll take roughly 1 hour and 34 mins. Belle Isle helps ground with views of the Detroit city skyline.
