There’s plenty of green, which makes it a nice little escape away from the city buildings. This is also a nice park to do some outdoor exercise. There’s a patchwork of woods and open lawns that include hiking and biking trails, as well as the tree-lined Lake Frances. Enjoy the historic elements that still exist, such as a rustic, dilapidated log cabin that was built for philanthropist Lizzie Merrill Palmer in the 1880s. PECK PARK

Modern city parks are typically known as “urban” parks and some of them in Detroit are getting pretty unique! There are also classic urban parks like Peck Park.  This wouldn’t be your go-to for major family get-togethers, but it’s wroth mentioning if you’re looking for a quaint and quiet option. Located just north of downtown Detroit, near the Detroit Institute of Arts, there are a handful of picnic benches scattered around this block-sized park. There is a play structure, but this park is simply a representation of Detroit’s art scene and little natural wonders. You’ll notice the bridge-like structure decorated with children’s art from both Detroit and Windsor.
