Thanks to the persistence of El Club’s Graeme Flegenheimer, Tom Finland’s house is taking over Mike Kelley’s house. Tonight, Thursday 19 April, at 7pm, TOM House: The Work and Life of Tom of Finland opens to the public at MOCAD’s Mobile Homestead. Graeme, who co-curated the MOCAD show, was introduced to Tom of Finland’s work while living in LA in his early twenties—and was immediately drawn to it. “I went to the house in Echo Park when I was still living in Los Angeles, and just kept showing up,” Flegenheimer tells the Metro Times. “I just kept bothering them. I was like, ‘I really want to do something.’ So, this show is realistically almost five years in the making.”

The exhibit also features work by Richard Hawkins, Robert Mapplethorpe, Jim Shaw and John Waters.

Note from MOCAD: This exhibition and associated public programs deal with mature themes. Adults visiting with youth must preview before entering exhibition or program.
