Keep Belle Isle Beautiful – Detroit River Kayak Clean Up

As part of National River Day, Saturday, May 19, 2018 will be the Keep Belle Isle Beautiful – Detroit River Kayak Clean Up.

In our part to Keep Belle Isle Beautiful, the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Belle Isle Conservancy, American Rivers and Riverside Kayak Connection are partnering to coordinate this Detroit River Clean Up. We know many of our paddling friends love Belle Isle as much as we do and also want to help keep our waterways clean. This is a great opportunity to get together with other paddlers and make a difference.

We are asking experienced paddlers with their own kayak, appropriate for the Detroit River, to join us in cleaning trash from the shoreline of Belle Isle. There will also be opportunities for land volunteers that can assist with items not reachable by kayak and to collect larger items from the kayakers.

Gloves, trash bags and pickers provided. Please come prepared to get wet.

There will be 6 launch locations on the island so that we may cover more of the shoreline.

Prior registration is required for this Clean Up.
